Don't bother – combo machines are useless pieces of It certainly won't be capable of making a decent espresso. To tell you the truth espresso machines take a lot of time, effort and money. So unless your in-laws are prepared for a steep learning curve and to spend lots of money on accessories and upgrades and time perfecting the art then this gift will become a burden that is unlikely to be used.
I love making espresso but this hobby has cost me lots of money and time to get right. However, this was my choice i wouldn't want to inflict it on someone else.
If they love coffee look at some of the simpler and cheaper solutions e.g Aeropress or Moka pot. Or just replace their broken machine.
While 7th Generation is making some great products, I must say Nature Baby Care disposable diapers are a much more baby-friendly AND eco-friendly option. OK well you don't need a grinder if you are going to be buying pods or pre ground, I think that is obvious. Pods on the other hand don't work with many machines, if it doesn't say it clearly they probably won't work.

Ok, I'm not a barista, but I have an espresso machine.
You could get a grinder for the espresso beans, or just buy it already ground. I don't use a thermometer, so it might be nice, although not necessary. You need something to use to steam/froth the milk, though a specific frothing pitcher isn't necessary. I use a ceramic mug. I've been told that either ceramic or stainless steel mugs work well. Note: keep this in the fridge, it somehow helps with the frothing…not sure why.
